Cleanse Now And Again, Make Minor Diet Changes and Live Healthy
Greetings & Welcome! This article was originally written for the Health Section of the Taichung Voice (now defunct).
This article is meant as an introduction/synopsis. My hope is that there is enough information provided so that you may make important life changes. We only go around once in this life, so let’s live it (healthy) for all it’s worth.
Normally, I’d complain about all the recycling you’re doing, but I’m just so glad you’re doing something here, I won’t. Besides, this one may be your best work and is well worth repeating. (Although, I’d have broken it into a series because it’s kind of long.)
I agree with virtually every single thing in this article and 3/4 agree with the rest. I think you should pick up the threads as a reoccurring theme. Here’s just one:
MeatEven though I’m a shameless meat eater, I know how horrific meat & poultry production has become. Old MacDonald’s multi-purpose farm is a myth today. Hell, the kind of farm I grew up on barely exists anymore.
Today, meat is all about specialized factories producing widgets. The fact that these widgets are living, thinking, feeling beings doesn’t even come into play. And quality? Ha!
Pigs never leave their crowded, indoor, metal pens. Their immune systems are so bad, employees must use hazmat suits and shower like in the movie Silkwood, otherwise all the pigs may drop down dead. Chickens are packed in like sardines and are bred to get so big, many can’t even support their own weight. Neither animal ever sees the light of day.
The only major food animal whose life resembles that of its grandparents is the cow. It still gets to go outside and eat grass (when not fed corn and all kinds of other shit -including other cows- depending on where you live). But with the rise of mega-feedlots, that’s slowly changing too.
If it all weren’t so sad, it would be funny. We are eating obese, sickly, animals that are pumped full of drugs, kept indoors and are sedentary their entire lives. That description also happens to perfectly describe the humans that eat them.
You are what you eat.
Hi Paul.. I would like to ask you a question if that is possible.. Please reply to me in email when you get a chance thank you.
