Politics: Military News Network Dialogue~ TOPIC: Photos from the Frontlines/January 20, 2010

This thread is an interesting one.

Observe the reactions/responses of Patriots (often Conservative, Fundamentalist, Protestant Christian somehow connected to the Military) when asked about America’s Wars in The Middle East.

We pray that they do not represent the majority of Americans.

In this thread, observe the reactions of the ‘Patriots’ when I ask why we are in the Middle East. Not one of them answers my Questions. I am trying to get my head around how me asking a simple Question: ‘Why is the U.S. in is in the Middle East’ equates with ‘not Supporting the Troops’.

Interesting Read…

Thread from MNN:

Greetings Jeanna!

Could you (or anyone else) give any examples of how The Military is keeping us safe everyday?

Much appreciated!

come on? If you don’t know by now, they could bite you in the a– and you still wouldn’t get it.

You know Boston Paul if you don’t like what our military personnel do by leaving their families & going to foreign soil to protect our borders from afar, and help rid those countries of the the Al-Quaeda/Taliban morons, then you need to get off your ASS & move to another country! Stop berating families who care for this country AND LOVE THEIR LOVED ONES & WHO BELIEVE IN GOD, not some metaphysical being! I am the grandmother of a 20-yr. old Marine and don’t tolerate you peace loving hippie styles!

Ann P. Lee, BRAVO ZULU!

God Bless You Ann P. Lee…I agree with you, Boston Paul has no right to call himself an American…move to Afghanistan and maybe you’d appreciate our soldiers. My son is in Afghanistan fighting for your freedom and I can’t believe there are people like you who don’t appreciate the sacrifices they and their families make, just hoping they will come home safe. Boston Paul you should be ashamed of yourself!

*My Note: I asked a Question.  Why should I be ashamed of myself for asking a Question?

Boston Paul

Greetings all.
None of you have answered my Question.

If you feel I am not a Good American (UNAmerican), you must also feel that Thomas Jefferson was UnAmerican as well.

Thomas Jefferson gave us the Go Ahead on asking Questions like this.

I served my Country with the élite 82nd Airborne Division for 4 years.

I am a combat vet.

Call me a Militant Hippie then.

😉

Bombarding people with Nationalistic Rhetoric (as you have done) to People who ask questions is Un American.

Freedom of Speech and Freedom to Question the Government. The U.S. Constitution &  Bill of Rights demands this.

Ann P.: You don’t like Peace Lovers (be them Hippie or not)?

Interesting.

That answers my question in part then.

Would anyone care to give me intelligent answers to my Questions?

(I have added a couple more)

1. How is the American Military protecting our Freedoms in another country?

2. Why is the US Military in The Middle East in the first place?

3. Where are you getting your Information concerning Military Activities in the Middle East?

I do appreciate your thoughtful responses.

Debra Northcross
thank you for all youve done in keeping us safe

Bertha Ward
May God bless and protect all our troops firhting for our
country.

Lisa, I was in Afghanistan in the 80’s when America was ‘friends’ with the Taliban.

Then, the Taliban were called the Mujahideen.

Does anyone remember the Rambo Movie when he was fighting with the ‘Freedom Fighters’ against Russia?

Well that was Rambo helping out the Mujahideen that later became the Taliban.

Does anyone here know the history of Afghanistan?

Have you thought about how one minute they can be friends of the US and the next they are foe?

Is there anyone here on this thread intelligent enough to discuss my questions above?

Don’t we all want Truth? In the Search for Truth, we must all agree to disagree.

There is no need for mudslinging and name calling in scholarly discourse.

Why did the American Government Invade (and are now Occupying) countries in the Middle East?

Are you a real American? Then ask these Questions and find Answers!

This is what Real Americans do.

The Fathers of America demanded this.

They included it in our Constitution and our Bill of Rights.

Stop with the Fox News dribble, the Glenn Beck Spew and all that other Ridiculous Rhetoric many of you regurgitate from the Corporate Media.

Think for yourselves. The ‘Fathers’ of America did.

As usual, the silent ‘moral majority’ is silent.

I respect those soldiers who think they are fighting for freedom. With those brave young Americans in mind I think the question is important – how are they keeping us safe?

They are being treated unfairly and lied to by their own government.

It’s not their fault.

The government is risking the lives of the soldiers that so many of you know and love. I think that you owe it to your loved ones to question your government. Support the troops and keep them from unnecessary harm and danger.

The US military is not keeping America safe by invading other countries.

They are Stirring hatred and creating terrorism – desperate, angry people from war ravaged countries are going to fight back.

I’m sure that most of you would prefer that your loved ones were at home instead of overseas fighting. So would I.

Ann, was that some sort of typo, or did you really say that you don’t tolerate peace-lovers? Shouldn’t we all hope for Peace, even if we disagree about how to achieve it?

  1. Everyone loves what you guys are up too. This sort of clever work
and reporting! Keep up the great works guys I’ve added you guys to my personal blogroll.

  2. After I initially commented I seem to have clicked the
-Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox
and now whenever a comment is added I get four emails with the exact same comment.
Perhaps there is a means you can remove me from that service?
    Appreciate it!

  3. Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal.

  4. This makes me wonder, how many people actually love war and love having their loved ones fighting a war? It gives them something to be proud of. If most of these soldiers were not in the military they would just be average mid – lower class folks. If that’s the case then I think I should be clear about how a feel – I pity them and think they are unfortunate people in an unfortunate position, but they are NOT heroes. They could be heroes by finding out the truth and refusing to follow orders no matter what the personal cost.
